Mulching reduces the loss of soil moisture by reducing evaporation from soil. The reduction in evaporation reduce watering to plants. Plastic mulching can be used to reduce watering in areca plants. The degradable and non degradable two types of plastic mulches are available in the market. Degradable plastic mulch is costly but better than non degradable because it decomposes easily in the soil and causes no soil pollution.
